A ready-to-use teaching pack for vocational education (citizenship): two 50-minute lessons, with slides, videos, examples and the interactive tool Potje Polariseren. One lesson is about framing as a persuasion technique, the other about polarisation itself. Students learn to recognise framing and polarisation, see how this ties in with social-media algorithms, and learn to tell manipulation apart from reliable information.

What’s inside
- Audience: vocational education, levels 1 to 4 (citizenship).

Lesson 1: Framing
Students learn what framing is and how it helps to tell or understand stories. They recognise framing as a persuasion technique and see which textual and visual devices are used to do it.
Lesson 2: Polarisation
Students understand what polarisation is, make the link with framing, recognise polarisation techniques, and learn to tell online manipulation apart from reliable information. They reflect on their own experiences.
Potje Polariseren
The interactive tool that comes with the teaching pack uses AI to analyse the polarisation features in videos. Play it online, read the manual, or take a look at the code.
