HEIO watches over the integrity of elections. We monitor the online election campaigns, report violations to platforms and regulators, and capture the patterns in reports that are discussed all the way to the House of Representatives. The HEIO consortium consists of Post-X Society (coordinator), the University of Amsterdam, AI Forensics and Trollrensics.
We keep an eye on various forms of interference: coordinated troll networks, manipulation of recommendation algorithms, AI-generated content, political livestreams that break the rules, covert influencer marketing, intimidation and extremism, and other unusual political activity on social media.

What we found
At the 2025 general election we documented troll armies, illegal AI content and covert political advertising, plus failing moderation. At the 2026 municipal elections we saw much of the same, plus political parties that kept advertising illegally. We captured our observations and insights in our Recommendations to the House of Representatives.
