How digital systems steer our thinking and doing, in our physical surroundings.
In this project we investigate how our physical surroundings are becoming ever more virtualised, and what that means for society. We focus in particular on power, autonomy, privacy and safety. Think of sensors that decide when the rubbish is collected, or immersive experiences that can mislead. The work culminated in the report Onder Invloed and a workshop at a conference of the Netherlands National Police.
The commercial drivers behind these technological developments are so strong that erosion looms.

Outcomes
One of our workshops produced a set of essential questions that every smart city should ask itself. Leiden-Delft-Erasmus published the results.
