Solarpunk: Project Sunrise
Project Sunrise is about connecting and bringing together an unique group of experts and leaders from a broad range of disciplines with the aim to build a community with a common agenda and develop the outlines of a future series of Solarpunk-themed immersive events in Gouda.
Solarpunk is a Climate-Fiction (“Cli-Fi”) movement in speculative design, art, fashion and activism that seeks to answer and embody the question “what does a sustainable civilization look like, and how can we get there?”1. Solarpunk is about envisioning a future where humans, nature, and technology coexist in harmony. It rejects the apocalyptic views of cyberpunk and the industrial nostalgia of steampunk. It’s ethos can also be summarized as “move slowly and plant things”. Solarpunk paints a future in which tech is done right, instead of gone wrong. In Solarpunk narratives communities are the main protagonists, thereby placing collectivism at its heart instead of today’s dominant individualism and going beyond circular economies towards to regenerative societies.
Post-X Society has received a startsubsidy from the Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie that will result in:
- Connected experts and partners, and coordination between their networks
- Research into the understanding of the Solarpunk ethos from diverse perspectives.
- A set of writing prompts which can also be seen as research questions, that will guide the main event's activities and experiences.
- A blueprint for an immersive Solarpunk event, with a clear idea of the activities, performances, and workshops to be included.
- A concept of a design and ambiance of the main event, ensuring it aligns with the Solarpunk theme.
- A community or platform for future collaborations in the spirit of Solarpunk
- Inspire a generation of designers, artists and hackers that are able to use positive narratives and utopias to lead society forward and critique today’s society
